weekend league action update

Filed under: club soccer — admin @ 2:55 am

It has been a very long weekend with a lot of important matches taking place in the leagues throughout the world. The big news is Manchester United lost to Chelsea and is 5 points adrift of the Blues who are in top spot. United now sit in third place after 12 rounds. It was yet another poor performance by Liverpool after they were held to a 2-2 draw against Birmingham City. In Spain Barcelona won 4-2 and Real Madrid beat their city rivals 3-2 at the Calderon which was the biggest game of the year for Atletico according to their coach. Barcelona still leads by a single point. In Italy Inter still lead the table but their city rivals Milan are back in the hunt and are now sitting in third place. Juventus are second. This is the news from the 3 major leagues in Europe.

matchday 4 final update

Filed under: general — admin @ 2:03 am

The final set of matches on matchday 4 came to an end and the results have been somewhat of a shock to me. Lyon and Sevilla are the two teams that progress to the next round today. Things in Group F are looking the toughest and the Champions Barcelona is in serious contention for missing out on the knockout stages. Arsenal is almost there but will need a point from the next game. Liverpool is almost out and will need a miracle to go through to the next round. Things for Inter Milan are also complicated. Matchday 5 which will be on 24th and 25th of November is going to be really interesting.

down and out

Filed under: club soccer — admin @ 4:27 am

Atletico Madrid has had a disappointing start to their campaign this season and it doesn’t look like it will end any soon. The side from Spain’s capital are currently in the drop zone in La Liga and are out of the Champions League and will be fighting for qualification in the Europa League come matchday 5.it is a shame that such a wonderful side is wasting its potential so much.
